How To Find Inspirational Popplet Ideas

Popplet is a mind-mapping graphic organizer which can be used to visualize and expand pretty much anything you can think of: a business plan, a class activity, a math project,  a map of the stars…We are fairly certain at this point that there is little that exists which cannot be captured, organized and made more presentable by displaying it on a Popplet board.

A bold claim, but we have we proof! Thanks to the Popplet community, who constantly share their thoughts, work, and creations with the world. So, if you have an idea and are looking for some help with it, or if you are searching for an idea, we hope you’ll find plenty of inspiration in the places below.

Public Popplets

When a Popplet is created, the author gets to choose precisely who can see their work. Some elect to keep their work private and others share only within a certain group. However, many people who create Popplets share openly, and the fruits of their labor can be viewed in Public Popplets – and we are very grateful that they do.

Public Popplets is an amazing, endless, global stream of popplet work. There are Popplets in dozens of languages (predominantly Spanish and English) from every corner of the globe. We are often tempted to say that these mind-maps cover every subject imaginable, but we are still surprised by what we find every single time we open Public Popplets. There are a lot of people in the world using Popplet and they are all having a lot of thoughts! On average,120 new popplets are added daily – take a look!

Public Popplets can be navigated by choosing either the most recent or most popular tab. And although there aren’t any other search features, when you make a start you will certainly find something of interest.

The work contained in Public Popplets can often be republished, just be sure to check the original content for copyright and don’t republish if you suspect an issue. Click on share in the top right-hand corner of the popplet board and you will be given a number of options:

Facebook, Twitter, URL… there’s even an embed code so you can publish the popplet on your blog or web page. Popular popplets can drive traffic to websites!

Twitter @poppletny

Popplet has a vibrant and interactive Twitter following. Educators, students, and professionals from many areas frequently publish their latest work on Twitter, giving rise to a constant flow of discussions and ideas: Teachers share activities, students share their work, and professionals are forever finding new ways to put Popplet to good use. Twitter is where Popplet users come together, not only with each other but with the wider community. It’s current and immediate – it’s Twitter. You will find us @poppletny.

Facebook

The Popplet Facebook page has almost as many followers as its Twitter stream. Unlike our Twitter community, however, our Facebook followers tend to be watchers. For this reason, we share the best Popplet work we can find on our Facebook page. How do we know our thousands of Facebook followers and likers are paying attention? Well, they occasionally like and comment on what we publish, but  Facebook, along with Twitter, is how our Social Media communities contact us directly. Our Facebook followers are in contact with us daily, mainly seeking advice on technical issues. So, if you have any questions, Facebook away!

Image Searches

Since many Popplets are published on blog pages and websites as images, they often show up in search engines. Check out the search results for “popplet animals” in Google Images:

Or “popplet history” in Bing:

Often, these images will lead to the original source pages, which might contain a link to the original popplet. Additionally, the source might contain more examples of the type of work/activity you are searching for. Often though, the image alone is sufficient, which is why this is a quick and effective source of ideas and inspiration.

Create! – be a Popplet Pioneer!

If after trying all of the above, you are still in the improbable position of “being stuck” then there is a very good chance that the type of Popplet you are inspired to create does not yet exist. However unlikely this sounds, it is by no means impossible – there’s a lot of information out there! So, if you don’t find what you are looking for, we humbly suggest that you go ahead and create it. Simply click to create that first popple and the rest will follow. Good luck!
